IVA Benefits

The benefits of IVA are many. They derive from multiple sources:

- Valve control of charge motion giving combustion benefits
- Valve control of charge mass reducing pumping losses
- Reduced parasitic losses at low/medium speed
- Inherently better transient capability and driveability
- Calibration opportunities

To date, IVA performance on a dynamometer based engine shows Steady State CO2 benefit of up to 8% against the baseline engine - a 2l downsized, boosted GDi twin phaser equipped engine

Transient benefits have not yet been measured, but are expected to be at least as significant as Steady State benefits based on historical equivalents
